Nicky Grist Stages & Woodpecker 2023
The Nicky Grist Stages event presented us with an exhilarating opportunity to showcase our rally prowess, with co-driver Jordan Joines by our side. However, our ambitions were derailed on stage 4 when we were compelled to retire. A particularly heavy landing during a daring jump (photo below) resulted in the catastrophic loss of our sump guard and radiator, rendering our car unfit to continue.
Until our unfortunate retirement, we were a mere 13 seconds away from securing the class lead, underscoring our competitiveness and determination. The Nicky Grist Stages, though cut short, demonstrated our potential as a team and the capabilities of our car. It was a bitter pill to swallow, tantalizingly close to success, only to have it slip away due to an unforeseeable mishap.
Regrettably, our string of bad luck extended to the subsequent event, the Woodpecker Stages, where we faced yet another setback. The car inexplicably cut out right before the start of SS1, and despite the best efforts of our dedicated team at Ignition Motorsport, we were unable to restart it. This double dose of misfortune has put our resilience and determination to the test.
As we look ahead to the next round, the Cambrian Rally on October 28th, there is a renewed sense of hope. This time, we will be joined by Swedish co-driver Tom Torngren, as Jordan is pursuing his championship title alongside Tim Green in the Mini Challenge, while still remaining an integral part of the Ignition Motorsport team.
Despite the challenges we've faced, we remain unwavering in our commitment to rallying success. Adversity is an inherent part of the motorsport journey, and we are prepared to meet it head-on with the belief that brighter days are on the horizon. With our new co-driver, Tom Torngren, we anticipate a fresh start and a chance to turn our luck around in the upcoming Cambrian Rally.
