Wyedean Rally 2022

A great debut for the Minion on the Wyedean Stages 2022

We collected 3rd in our Welsh Rally Championship class, 4th in our event class an came 47th overall

It was a day of many firsts for me

The first time driving the car was from service to SS1! We had only collected the new car 6 weeks prior to the start of the event, with work commitments, slow paperwork for the registration of the car and pre-event prep needed I had zero time to test.

That was my first time on the Wyedean and also the first time competing in the wet.. I suspect this would be good practice for the Cambrian rally in a couple of weeks time.

The two things that were totally alien to be was being in a left-hand drive rally car and using a sequential gearbox, the switch was not as easy as I’d hoped and my road position was the topic of the day for co-driver, Scott Dance and he shouted “LINE!” at me every few miles. I was all over the place but by the end of the day I’d finally got the hang of it and started to set some good times.

The morning consisted of rain, slippy roads, overshoots, "moments" and a couple of teething issues. Despite all of that the car felt awesome... or as I put at at end of SS1 "WHAT A FUCKING AWESOME MACHINE!"

Things started to click into place in the afternoon. We set times 20-30seconds quicker than the morning loop taking some 2nd and 3rd fastest stage times in our class.

Very happy with the result and the car!

Looking forward to the last rally of the year in 2 weeks!
